CESIE

CESIE is a non-profit, non-governmental organization based in Palermo (Italy) and established in 2001. CESIE is committed to promote the cultural, social, educational and economic development at local, national, European and international levels.

Inspired by the work of Italian sociologist Danilo Dolci, we focus our work on the research of social needs and challenges and the use of innovative learning approaches. In this way, CESIE actively connects research with action through the use of formal and non-formal learning methodologies.

Through its Migration Unit, CESIE supports the social inclusion of migrants, asylum seekers, refugees of all ages (children, youngsters, adults) through activities, projects and trainings. The main sectors in which the organization is active are:

  • Social and cultural orientation and support for migrants and specifically newcomers, in getting on with life in a new country;
  • Educational and training offers for migrants in fields, such as employability, worker rights & responsibilities as well as entrepreneurship;
  • Trainings for professionals such as social workers, psychologists, educators, teachers etc. to better approach diversity (Critical Incidents methodologies, Intercultural awareness and sensitivity trainings, Conflict resolutions, Communication);
  • Social inclusion paths addressed to unaccompanied minors and young migrants, providing them learning and sharing opportunities through supporting mechanisms established in the city of Palermo.
