The Austrian Kinderfreunde (Childrenfriends) is a non-governmental organization based in Vienna that promotes the rights of children in Austria.
It was founded in 1908 as the worker’s association Kinderfreunde (childrenfriends). Workers organized play afternoons, hiking trips and afternoon activities to improve the lives of their children. Today, Kinderfreunde is not only a strong lobby for children and their rights recognition before the law but also is involved in many projects in Austria, for the development of children’s well being. (children’s rights and child protection programmes, childrenfriends kindergartens, educational work with refugee children, play afternoons, local groups, vacation activities, etc.)
